Lauren D’Errico (she/her) is a librettist, playwright, screenwriter, and sometimes DJ. Her work has been seen and developed in New York (Experiments In Opera, First Kiss Theatre, The Bechdel Group, The Tank, Nora’s Playhouse), Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh Opera, Bricolage Production Company), North Carolina (Charlotte New Music Festival), and online (Athena Film Festival, Strange Trace, La Jolla Playhouse, Blindspot Collective, Playdate Theatre, DeFrente Productions). She is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop as a librettist.

In 2018, her play How To Talk To Others (and Talking About Yourself) was a Bay Area Playwrights Festival finalist. All The Shades of You, her feature screenplay, won second place in the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Script Competition at Carnegie Mellon University in 2018. Her pilot script The New Classic was a finalist for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Script Competition the following year. She is a recipient of the 2019 Mary Marlin Fisher Award for Excellence in Playwriting.

She describes her plays as being driven by language and emotions first and foremost (and sometimes that means before plot and character). Her work is interested in failed communication, female personhood, the psychology of fitness, and anxiety. Sometimes her work is about Nothing in the way that means it is about A Lot Of Things and Everything.

BA: Creative Writing & Playwriting/Screenwriting, Purchase College, SUNY [2016].
MFA: Dramatic Writing, Carnegie Mellon University [2019].
